Right after 9.11 there was memorabilia. “Lest we forget.” I was in NYC that day, and this immediate urge to memorialize seemed absurd in the face of the day’s horrors, but I know it’s not. Our memories are fragile, and even experiences that feel carved into our skull may begin to wear away as they are washed over by a million more. Amalgamated Memories is a sand castle of minor moments and collections of old things that I hope to briefly shelter from life’s eroding tides.
